EarthBound Funktastic Gameplay

EB Quote:

"Aaiiiieeeeee! I screamed...'cause I didn't know what else to do!" - Man in Happyist Building

Today's Gameplay Point:

He's swift for a soft, fat child. Now that you're in Happy Happy Village, you have to rescue Paula from Carpainter. Fight. Obviously, you're going to encounter your good friend Pokey again, so there's always that to look forward to. Don't go to Lilliput steps yet though. Right when you rescue Paula, save your game.

Today's Challenges:

  • Don't steal eggs. It's wrong. If you need Eggs, pay at least 110 dollars for them. In otherwords, don't buy from that basket. :)
  • Fight 20 Happy Happyists in one battle. However, you can't have either the Hard Hat, or the Copper Bracelet equiped.
  • Don't use any PSI against Carpainter. This includes healing PSI.
  • Donate all your money to that annoying lady.
  • Fill Paula's inventory entirely with cookies you win from Spiteful Crows.
  • Fight 10 coil snakes.
  • Get Paula to level 10 by fighting crows outside the cabin. Don't go into the cave until she's at level 10.

Mother 2 Factoids:

Maybe Santa's elves are evil too. Here's an interesting change. The Happy Happyists are strikingly similar to the Ku Klux Klan. Obviously, Nintendo could not condone this. So what did they do? Well, as you can see from the picture, the "HH" mark is erased. But there is one more thing that you may have not noticed. The EarthBound Happyist has a fluffy ball at the end of the hat. I guess that makes it less evil or something.

Gameplay Hints/Tips:

After several rounds in this battle, I got 6707 exp. It's very easy to get more than that. Stealing and overkill are the key hints for today's GPP. As you know, Happy Happy Village has many cultists roaming around. These cultists are the key to gaining massive amounts of EXP. In order to do this, you're going to want to have the HARD HAT from Peaceful Rest Valley. Equip the Copper Bracelet, and the Sandlot Bat as well. You also may want a few recovery items. Next, engage a Happy Happyist. They only have two attacks; their weak paint attack, which only does 4 or so HP damage, and calling for help. Hit the HH once, and then defend until he calls for help. Finish off the one you were hitting, and then hit the other Happyist once. Continue to defend until they sucessfully call for help. Keep repeating this cycle. You'll end up going halfway through the alphabet, and then back to "A". Doing this cycle a few times is a fast and very easy way of gaining at least 3 levels.

Next is the old egg stealing trick. This is more time consuming however. If you can empty your inventory by giving your important items to Escargo Express, fill up your backpack with stolen eggs from the basket. The eggs will eventually turn into chickens that you can sell for $110. Really easy money. But you won't be able to do this once you defeat Carpainter.
