Today's Gameplay Point:


Well thank goodness! With Buzz Buzz squashed, your dog frightened, and Pokey and Picky spanked, you're now all alone on your adventure. But you must do something with those pesky delinquents, the Sharks. Therefore, today's objective will be to play until after you defeat Frank Fly. Once you defeat him, save your game. Or, you can do what I did, and explore around Onett. You never know what you'll find.


Today's Challenges:


  • Don't equip the Mr. Baseball Hat, or Cheap Bracelet.
  • Can you get the Bag of Fries from the Skate Punk?
  • Defeat Frank before you reach level 5.
  • Only use Cookies and Juice for recovery items.


Mother 2 Factoids:


Click if you wish to see the larger picture Click if you wish to see the larger picture The following screenshots are comparing battle scenes from Mother 2, and EarthBound. If you are observant, you'll notice a few changes, but it appears that the main screen remains intact.

Furthermore, remember how if you talk to Pokey after he's punished ("No dessert for the rest of the decade")? Instead of that, he says that his "butt hurts". This suggests that he's been spanked. In my day, annoying fat kids were spanked till the cows came home. An' that's tha way we liked it!

Finally, the goofy Beatles quiz "XXXterday", was really the following in Mother 2: "The girl from the Alps named OOdi". You would fill the OO with hai (yes) or iie (no). I think it's that girl named "Heidi". Was that from a movie or something?

Gameplay Hints/Tips:


Hah! They can't GET ME! The hints for today's GPP aren't as remarkable as the last one (hey, I at least thought it was), but they are helpful nonetheless. As you can see, hiding behind objects is a key thing when trying to avoid enemies of this size. And if you're levels are low before you fight the Sharks, and you want to raise them easily, you'll probably want to fight the "preset" enemies first. These include the two Shark members outside of the arcade, and the ones inside. If you fight these first, random enemies won't quickly run into the scene. And also notice how I have no money. This is a pretty basic tip, but for those of you new to the game, you loose half of it when you die. This is similar to many RPGs. But there's nothing worse than loosing your hard earn cash, just because you have deep pockets.
