EarthBound Funktastic Gameplay

EB Quote:

"I enjoy helping those who are in trouble....though I charge them for my trouble." - Man in Grapefruit Falls Valley

Today's Gameplay Point:

Hi Ho. Kermit the Fr- er, wait a minute... With the zombies out of the way, you can now go through that underground entrance in the north-western graveyard. After you fight through all the other zombies and ghosts in this cave, continue on to Saturn Valley. When you arrive here, feel free to heal yourself, and reap the benefits of the Mr. Saturn's powerful (yet cheap) tools. Save your game promptly afterwards. This ends today's GPP.

Today's Challenges:

  • No PSI for the whole GPP.
  • Fight 10 Armored Frogs (notice the first challenge).
  • Talk to all the (accessible) Mr. Saturns in less than 1 minute.
  • Buy everything in the Mr. Saturn shop.
  • Fight a Mad Duck in Saturn Valley... Yes, it is possible.

Mother 2 Factoids:

Doseisan Speak The Mr. Saturn language is just as goofy in Mother 2 (can cause trouble for certain translators). Also, a Mr. Saturn is "Doseisan", in Japan. That basically means Mr. Saturn. However, WHAT they're saying exactly remains a mystery.

Thanks to Tomato for providing this Mother 2 information! Visit his Mother 2 to EarthBound and Back Again translation site for more Mother 2 to EB comparisons!

Gameplay Hints/Tips:

Burn the stink Before you go through the underground enterance, you'll probably want to take along a vial of serum or a refreshing herb. The reason is you may not be at the level for Healing B (which heals poison). And there are many Zombie Dogs down there that will probably poison you if you get into a battle with them. Secondly, you'll want to use PSI (Particulary PSI Fire), on the Slimy Little Pile. As you can see, he makes you cry, so physical attacks are pretty useless. Once you get to Saturn Valley, you'll see that there are many useful items and weapons. One of the best items is the Peanut Cheese bars. They're very cheap, and replenish over 100 hp! Any food recovering items you currently have should be sold, in order to make room for these tasty things. And finally, don't purchase the Bionic Slingshot. Yo yo's and Slingshots always miss when you need a good hit. Plus they have no SMAAAAAASH! attacks. They aren't worth it.
