Today's Gameplay Point:


School is out, that's why we are playing EarthBound. Another short GPP, but there's going to be some challenging fighting in it. Once you rescue the Runaway Five again, check out the Dept. Store. There's lots of powerful weapons here, so be sure to explore the whole thing. Of course, Paula then gets kidnapped, and it's just Ness and Jeff. Once you defeat the Dept. Store Spook, save your game.


Today's Challenges:


  • Don't use Bottle Rockets or Bombs against the Dept. Store Spook.
  • Fight three of each enemy (The Musica, Mysical Record, and the Scalding Cup of Coffee)
  • Only use alpha PSI.
  • Store away your Franklin Badge before Paula gets kidnapped.


Mother 2 Factoids:


Caffeine is just as much of a drug as Alcohol Big change. The cafe turns out to be a bar. Here you'll find all the drunken lowlifes of Fourside. As a result, NOA replaced "alcohol" with caffeine throughout the whole game. Furthermore, the name of the bar/cafe in Mother 2 is "Boruhesu's Bar".

Gameplay Hints/Tips:


Huggable, and Poundable Basically do the opposite of the challenges for this GPP. Don't forget about the arms dealer on the side of the store. One Big Bottle rocket should finish off the Department Store Spook. But what's the fun in that? Finally, have every character equipped with a character before Paula is kidnapped. If you can keep the Teddy Bears alive up till you fight the Dept. Store Spook, you have a good chance of avoiding his deadly PSI Freeze attack. it doesn't affect the Teddy Bear at all.
